What is the normal water temp???

hey guys, what is the normal water temp? I think my thermostat is suck open, it runs around 150-160 degrees with a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator.

Should run 180-190 degrees, right?

Mine hit 190*-200* last summer. It was over 100* outside and I was pulling a F-150 on a 18 ft. trailer with the a/c on. Usually in summer mine runs about 170-180 and in winter about 170*. I still have never heard my fan clutch lock up.

Mine has not seen 180 yet , even with moderat towing [ 8,000 small hills ] , with the stock gauges its kind of a guessing game , but about 165-175 seems normal and thats after 8-10 miles if hwy speeds. Its been between 0 deg. F. and 20 deg. f. and after 20 miles to town I need to turn the fan down 2 steps from max. but then I took the fan off and blocked the rad with carboard and I do plug at night.

So are you going to try a new thermostat?

From day one...

I've seen 190*F everyday... Never changing till the thermostat gave up the ghost...

Then I was seeing 200-210*F then pop open and drop hard to about 160-170*F and cycle again... But after replacing it... It's back to 190*F..

The stock thermostat is a 192-195*F (I know some of you use the 180*F)

Mine is 180 or less in hot summer and It was 140 on a winter trip through eastern oregan and nevada, thought my temp sending unit went bad but I think it was just the cold air and no winter front cover.

ditto....I just replaced mine a week ago. Even as far back as June I saw higher than what I remember temps when towing. Now that it cooled the temp would drop to 140 coasting down the pass. New tstat took care of that.

I think I need a new one. It just runs too cold. It ran 180 until my heater hose popped off and the temp ran up to 220. Since then, its ran too cool. It must be stuck open.

How long does it suppose to take to reach 180? It takes me 10 miles or 20 minutes to reach 160

In 2-3 miles I've got 190*F easy with the winter front on... But without a winter front it might take 10-15 miles to get to 190*F with outside air temp at 0*F...
