Cool

Lots of posts on this subject, untapped I say no. I have a new vp and haven't tapped it yet, have a stealth plate on the shelf waiting.

I have always been told to run them stock for a 1,000 miles or so before turning on the box. But I have never seen on die because they didn't wait. If I was you I would ask who you bought your VP from and see what they say.

my edge is the ez series and it just plugs in no tapping wires.

I put a new VP44 on a year ago and tapped the wire immediately, no problems yet. I have never even heard that you should put 1000 miles on it before tapping the wire. News to me.

I have also never heard that. As far as I understand, if your fuel pressure stays put, then you should be just fine.

VP Failures are related to fuel flow and volume. Tapping the wire has no adverse affect besides loss of warranty on the pump and pre-existing problems with the pumps electronic componets

I tapped mine immediately and have had no problems now for over 20K miles. One thing is weird, though. No matter what setting I have the Juice on (other than "0" Stock) when my engine warms up and the Juice kicks in I swear my VP makes a strange sound. Kind of like the engine noise changes and makes a more grinding noise. Probably just my imagination, though.... I usually leave it at stock until the engine is nice and warmed up....

The Edge Juice w/ Attitude has built in cold engine protection, you just have to enable it. It turns the chip on, when the truck's coolant temp hits 160 degrees.

so which is safer ,an edge ez that just pluges into the baro and timing connectors or the type that splices into injection pump wiring?? also my fuel pressure at idle at the vp is 17 psi at wot it drops to 13-14 psi , i guess this type of drop is normal ?
