It is definitly a 97 and it ahs a mechanical pump, this was the last year they were produce as far as I know. Maybe it depends on the month that the truck was assembled or perhaps whre it was built. This may also explain why some members dont think thi engine should have a camshaft position locator pin

Unless someone did a conversion, you have a 12v. Count your valve covers. If you have one long one, with injection lines going in on the drivers side of the engine, you have a 24v. If you have 6 valve covers (there might be a beauty cover over top of them) with the injectors crossing the head and going in on the passenger side, then you have a 12v. If you do indeed have a 12v, congratulations!
