Valve adjust time?

So I hit 100,000 miles a few weeks back and am wondering if its time to check the valve adjustment on my 24V.

I have also noticed a bit more smoke puff on starting. Thoughts?

Thanks.

A friend had his adjusted on his 12valve @ 150K and was amazed at the difference in sound and power.

Just wondering if it is worth checking out at 100K on my rig.

I don't know where I read this, either on this board or in the FSM, but I recall that the valve lash should be checked / adjusted every 100K. Here's a link to the procedure https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...n&onlynewfaq=3

I just did a valve adjust on mine and there were only 3 intakes that were off by about .03, which is nothing to worry about. I can't speak for everyone but I would wait at least till 150k knowing how mine looked at 283K.

THanks guys, I'm gonna have some time on my hands this winter and a heated space to use so I thought I would get in there and check them out!

If you've got the time AND a heated space it definitely wouldn't hurt anything. Good luck, It's not too terrible to do!
