VP gave up ghost need advice.

Well, hate to say it but, looks like I get to join thousands of people that have to change the injection pump. Want to P-pump it so bad. I need my truck in a hurry though so, that is out of the question now. My question is do I buy a stock replacement for 1000 or go with the BD higher flow one for 1500? Is the BD gonna be any more reliable than the factory Bosch rebuild? OH, did I mention I really want to P-pump it? Thanks.

A stock replacement VP is the most reliable. Also, look for a vendor combo package that includes the VP and a new fuel pump.....because I'm sure you need a better fuel pump too.

Stock is the way to go from everything that i have heard. I just went through a nightmair with mine coing out. and you def want to replace the lift pump. Thoroughbread diesed has a good deal on pumps and packages and mine is running great since the swop. If you want to semnd a little more check with blue chip diesel. Everying says they have great pumps

good luck

A good stock replacement pump! Not one of the cheapies.
Industrial Injection or Blue Chip.
Thoroughbred sells II who's does Midwest sell?
You can get a good II HRVP for the price of the stock Blue Chip.
Stay away from black beauty,Czech rebuild.

I'd like to mention that I bought a blue chip special-x vp44 for my first replacement in my old truck. It is still running strong and brought my fuel mileage from 17 to 19 consistently. Also a noticable gain in throttle response and low rpm torque. It impresses me every time I drive it. I have nothing but good things to say about Mr Foster and Blue Chip Diesel. For what it's worth, though - on my next truck and my mom's truck, I bought the cheapest ones I could get from good sources. They are still doing fine as well.

.....and I've read a few posts from people with failed Blue Chip pumps wondering why they spent the extra $$$. Personal preferance is a good re-man with a 3yr warranty.

I put on a blue chip. I have a FASS lift pump. If I were to do it over again I would have went with a DDRP.

I chose Blue Chip as I liked his customer service. Talked with him a couple of times and he was very helpful. worked with me on a couple of issues. Seemed like a shot in the dark, but he puts a new computer on EVERY pump that goes out the door.

Not sure if you have one already, but if you don't get a fuel pressure gauge as well.

Never seen a three year warranty. At least not lately.

Put a Blue Chip SO on my truck a few months back. So far so good! Mileage seems to have gone up quite a bit too!

I understand it that if you see significant mileage gains after installing a new VP then the old VP's timing piston was badly worn and wasn't able to achieve full timing advance. Possibly in conjunction for why it failed or not. My VP failed electronically and when I put on my new VP from Chip I saw no increase in mileage or power.
