Turbo Issues ??

I was towing a car trailer w/car and my the engine started to overheat, I pulled over to let it cool down. This happened twice, I limped into a service station and notice my radiator was clogged with dirt/debris. I hosed it out and everything from a temp standpoint seemed to be ok. I thought at one point during the tow I heard a noise similar to that of Air escaping from a compressor, thinking it might be just wind/road noise I ignored it. The next day after removing car/trailer I notice a definite lack of power and the noticeable turbo whine was gone. What should I check first and how??

Is there any way to see if the turbo is still able to spin w/o adding a boost guage? Any help would be greatly appreciated..

You can start the truck and take off the intake hose to see the turbo spin, but its proabably an intercooler boot losing air.

Any radiator washing will help...but for serious cleaning, rig something that will let you pressure wash it from the back side! You won't believe what will come shooting out of there

A piece of 2 - 3' copper tubing on the end of a hose...with the free end sealed off and small holes drilled into the side of the tubing...so water shoots out at 90 degrees to the tubing, lets you flush from the back without removing the radiator!

Agree, it sounds like a boost leak or a boot off...assuming the turbo is spinning freely!
