I know that this topic has just been beaten to death, but, I just wanted to make sure of something. at highway speeds in lock-up my truck seemed to either shudder/lose power, and sort of lurch. I have noticed no signs of rpm change, and I just lost my vp-44. its in the shop right now getting it replaced. could the lurching be due to a bad vp-44, or is my torque converter starting to go. All fluids were changed within last 2000 miles. truck is a 1999 ram 2500, auto trans

 

Divide and conquer, wait till the vp is done, then if the issue remains look @ the tq...

 

Remember to replace lift pump at same time if have any question of it's abilities. A failing VP44 can certainlly fool you with things you speak of happpening.

 

Thanks guys, and yeah i did replace the lift pump as well as the vp-44, i get the truck back tomorrow, and i will tell you what i find out.

 

I hope you upgraded the vp and pump and have a fuel pressure gauge!

 

that is what I am going to do as soon as i get my truck back, what brand do you prefer. I was trying to find the difference between a electrical and mechanical... which one is more accurate?

 

FASS or AirDog with a mechanical gauge.

 

How do you like your FASS, i am getting the 95 gph model, and should be getting it back tomorrow.

 

Get a mechanical gauge, they are pretty much bullet proof, and contrary to what you might hear, you really DON'T need an isolator (they are usually more trouble than they are worth, at least they were for me.)

Thanks thats what I have heard as well. Is there any one specific brand that is more accurate.

 

Which ever brand you prefer, be it ISSPRO, DiPricol, or Autometer, they are all good. (I think the DiPricols match the factory gauges better, but that is just a matter of personal preference.)
