transmission problems.

I had the trans. rebuilt with the billit torque converter installed a few months ago. The truck did fine and shifted just like it should. I pull a lot of weight with the truck and last week I was pulling a big tractor up a hill in 3rd gear and the converter was locked in. The converter unlocked and the trans is stuck in 3rd gear now. You can shift it into nutral or reverse and it does like it should. When you shift into a forward gear in goes into 3rd gear from the start and stayes there. Converter will not lock in and only one gear. The fuse is good, the relay is good and has power to it. The switch in the trans was replaced and the trans taken apart and checked and also the valve body checked. All looks good. The computer says it has 51 pounds of pressure on the switch as soon as you shift to drive. Shift to nutral and no pressure on the switch. All the grounds are clean so that is not it. The truck pulled the tractor home in 3rd gear with no slipping so that is not a problem. The shop is still looking but has anyone had this problem? 1998.5- 2500- stock all the way. 110 thousand miles. Does work hard all the time now that I have it.
Thanks, Fred.

transmission problem fixed

Turned out that the new wiring harnes inside the transmission that was put in 6 months ago shorted out and was giving the computer the wrong info. New harnes fixed the problem.

Saw that you are from East TN. Where did you get your trans done at?

Knew there was a reason I chose the manual. I'm tired of giving up a couple of thousand dollars to get the autos rebuilt.

It was Tri-City Transmission 200 block of Market St in Johnson City, Tn. He has done my work for years and does a good job. All the work he did this time was under warrenty so it didn't cost me anything. He is good about that kind of stuff. This day and time it is hard to find someone like him. I would recomend him to anyone.
I used the truck today to pull our camped and some tractors to a show. Worked great.
Thanks, Fred
