Transmission problems

Need some help here. My tranny was replaced with a new dodge tranny in 2001. It started shifting funny(2-3 would go back to 2 and then back to 3 and stay.) Took it to the tranny shop and they said the shifter solenoid and someting else was bad so they replaced it $400.00 Well, two days later it was back and this time they said that they kept filling up with metal. They are saying that the converter is probably coming apart. Could it simply be wrong fluid causing this?? When i changed the fluid and filter the other day (before it started shifting funny) all i had was some dexron 2 and so i put it in. 6 quarts. But even after the shop had to replace fluid, it was still doing it, and i want to believe they put the correct stuff in there...Any advice would be great. I am very much questioning the integrity of the tranny shop. Just hard for me to trust many shops, it is all about the money for most places. Also, when i pulled the pan down and did the filter, there was no metal in the pan, just the normal metal dust stuff on the magnet..

Have you had the linkage recall done yet? Its free and they are suppose to readjust everything when done. It could be out of adjustment or the TPS adjustment.
