Fan Support Hub Assembly

The previous owner of my 2002 24 valve truck crossthreaded the shaft that connects the fan clutch to the hub assembly. I have removed the shaft from the assembly but not sure if can get only the shaft or if I have to replace the complete assembly. The bearing is ok. I think the assembly is a bit pricey. Any help out there?

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Yep the part you need is a bit pricey, unless you can find it on e-bay.

The bearing is $130.00
The shaft is $35.00, so its not too bad. Alot better than that fan coming off and going through the radiator and shroud.
The dealer or a Cummins parts center will have the shaft no problem.
Be sure to lock-tite the four bolts when putting the pulley back on the new shaft.

Thanks Todd, The dealer gave me a price for the complete assembly $300, I felt after removing the shaft that it should be avalable.

I would replace the bearing while I had it apart. I purchased one from Motion Industries for about $30. It was exactly the same as the bearing I removed, even had the same color seal, probably from the same supplier.

Hey Kenny... Did that bearing have a number that motion industries matched? Mine is starting to go and I would love to know what number the bearing is instead of just getting the part through Dodge/cummins... So if you got that old bearing yet, or the invoice from motion or anything that would give me a heads up on the bearing number I would appreciate knowing it..

The bearing I bought from Motion is a Fafnir/ Timken. The part # is GYA100RRB. Guess Cummins and Chrysler have to make 300 to 400% on all their parts! Let us know the current price if you buy one from Motion, they may have gone up a few dollars but should not be much higher.

Kenny...
Well I looked up the bearing number that you gave me and it is not the one that I need. I was able to find pictures and data on line. The GYA100RRB has a locking collor with a set screw according to the info I found. The bearing that I am looking for is a double raced bearing that the pully fan etc... all run on, it has to be pressed on and off the mount for the fan that bolts to the front of the engine. So I guess it's back to the Cummins number that I have 3910739 and $139 at the local Cummins service center. I guess I should feel pretty good about that though... The local Dodge dealership wants $201 for the same bearing. Anyway thanks for the number... Too bad it won't work out for me.

That could have been the wrong box that I got the number from. I have a new one still in the box so I know this one is right. It is an NSK bearing, number BD35-12AT12DDU8. I have 2 trucks and 2 spare idlers, bought from EBay. Sent a friend to Motion to get a bearing for his truck, since the idler was so expensive. This is the bearing like he bought and installed. It has been running fine for about 2 years. I run a machine shop and have lots of stuff laying around and could have picked up the wrong box on the first one. This number has to be right, the bearing is still wrapped up inside. Let us know if this one works out. Good luck and maybe you won't get robbed, that price is rediculous.

My eyes aren't that good, I know it was on the box. The first box with the wrong number was for a bearing for a shot blast machine. Sorry about the mistake.
