Trans question

Who manufactured the 47RE Automation transmission. I assume that is what I have in a 1998.5 24 valve. I was under the impression that Alison was building the trans, but Alison’s are usually in Chevy’s. Someone said it’s a Powerglide, but again I recall running a pwoerglide in a ChevyII Nova. Is it just a Mopar constructed trans?

Thanks

Yes, it's history can be traced back to Chrysler's original Torqueflight transmission of the 1950's.

I'd say that's a pretty good design that can endure 50+years.
