Problem on a friend's truck
Hey guys. This is my first post here but I've been a member for awhile. Anyways, I was hoping someone could help my friend. His truck is a 01 HO 2500 (just like mine). The only mods he has are a straight pipe and an Edge EZ. Most of the time his truck drives fine, but sometimes if he's moving say, 40 mph in 6th gear he can mash the pedal to the floor and nothing will happen for several seconds and then all at once truck will start accelerating. This happens with the EZ on and off the truck. He's tried changing the fuel filter and had his MAP sensor replaced. The only codes showing on the truck are:
P 0460 - Fuel Level Unit No Change Over Miles
P 0463 - Fuel Level Sending unit Volts Too High
and the P 1693 code.
Any Ideas?

It sounds like it could be the famous "dead pedal" symptom, which is a sure sign that his VP44 injection pump is getting ready to die. Tell him to get his codes read to see what else is there.

As stated, classic description of the symptoms of a failing VP-44.
My first post here was just about the same question.
Of course, I ran out to do the APPS reset, only to find out a day later that did nothing for me.
He's probably got a P0216 in there somewhere.
