Tranny cooler recommendation

Has anyone added an aftermarket tranny cooler? My factory unit is quite beat up so I’m looking a getting a replacement and maybe a fan mounted unit. I was looking at the Derale line and noticed this little cooler w/fan. Anyone ever try this or any other aftermarket cooler? Should help in traffic, along with the drag racing crowd to help cool things off when not moving.

I run a Derale cooler in place of my heat exchanger. I would recommend their 16 pass cooler with -8AN (1/2") fittings #DER-15800.

Did you mount it in the stock location?

No, Mine set up is a bit different then most. Since I replaced my heat exchanger with the Derale cooler. Mine is tucked under the bed in front of the rear tire outside of the frame rail. Fluid passes thru it first then to the stock cooler in front of the radiator.

That looks like a pretty good idea. I have been wondering if this would be any help for us auto drivers. Let us know how it works out for you, which ever product you choose

Well, I ordered the DER 15800 and the in-line thermostat, DER 15721. Here's a link to what it looks like for anyone interested. Notice that it's recommended for the Dodge Cummings truck.

I have it mounted and plumbed but the truck is still undergoing a few more upgrades. Here's a few shots of the cooler.
