Thanks,

I am hoping someone can show me actual photos because when it comes to the Dana 80 there seems to be nothing but more confusing information. I contacted Randy's Ring and Pinion and sent them the photos and they said that it is the Trac Loc design that is "Technically" the Power Loc since Dana renamed the Trac Loc the Power Loc when they quit making the actual Power Loc.

Is that confusing enough?

I just got the part number 2002339.

According to:

www2.dana.com/pdf/xgi.pdf

It's a Trak-Loc 4.10 and up!

That was what I thought. A Power lok has a triangular side on the cross pins that rides on a corresponding ramp on the case to apply more pressure to the clutches.

OK, thats good. So in the D-80 what is the difference between the power and track? I have taken some of the 80's apart and they have those clutch packs on both sides of the diff.

I am no expert. All I know is what I have read on here and Randy's Ring and Pinion website. I cant get anyone from Reider Racing to answer my phone calls and/or reply to my emails concerning trying to use a Dana 70HD Power Lok in my Dana 80. Randy's said there was "NO WAY" they would up the Ring Bolt size and strongly recommended against it because they said (which seems contradictory to what I have read here) that the Ring Gear would only be located by the bolts themselves and not have a register on the ID to help center the gear.

Randy's also told me they can no longer get rebuild kits for a Dana 80 Power Lok Diff and the cost for a Track Lok rebuild kit was over $400!

I honestly dont know what is right and wrong as far as the information goes because you hear one thing from this guy and then the 180 degree opposite from someone else both supposedly experts on what they are saying due to their experience!

So if anyone has PHOTOS of a their set ups to show me how they are making the mods and can get me into touch with a shop that does the work I just dont know! Every shop that has been mentioned as doing the mods in the past either will not answer my questions and/or flat out says they wont do it!

I will check into that. I know what I have, an open differential. I am trying to find a Power Lok I can put in there. If I dont end up finding one I am just going to have to go with a Powertrax No-Slip! The photos I posted were of a supposed Power Lok that is for sale on Ebay and I was trying to confirm whether or not is was a Power Lok or a Track Lok. Whatever you guys do, if you find a Power Lok for sale on Ebay confirm that it is an actual Power Lok first by getting a photo of the Spider Gear Cross Pins as that will tell you for sure what you will be bidding on!

Got you!
I'm no expert either, but w/o the groove for the slidding pin for more clamping pressure, it must be a Trac Lok, IMO; ...... what ever Dana named it.

Good Luck.
