Putting a 3rd gen Gearbox on?

I did a search and came up with nothing, I am wondering if anyone has or if its possible to install a 3rd gen gearbox on a 2ng gen truck. My gearbox is shot and I need a new one, and the 3rd gen trucks steer like a dream compared to mine (and for the most part all 2nd gens) and I have the column bushing and stabilizer and it still sucks, Im sick of having to work to keep it in my lane on the highway...

Save some time and money by changing your track bar to the factory 3500 hd version, and a fresh stabilizer.
You will be amazed how much better it tracks down the road.

I don't have any good info for you. The box mounts to the frame so there will need to be some new holes made. PSC may be able to help. I know PSC has a 2nd gen box with the same ratio as a 3rd gen. I think you could just swap the internals from a 3rd gen to a 2nd gen. Pavementsucks has some good info about the steering boxes.

I talked to one builder who said the 3rd gen were weak also. I saw a thread about a kit with bracket & new 3rd gen box. It was expensive. PSC quit building 2nd gen boxes & I went through several AGR boxes before getting 1 that works. I don't really KNOW that it works, only that it hasn't dumped oill YET. It does need adjusting - fresh out of the box. Next time, I'll try something that's readilly available without having to wait for shipping.
