towed the race car trailer

I hooked on the 28' trailer 10,000 lbs. to my 02 ram 2500 auto. with 1200 miles on it. It towed it fine at 70-75 mph.
but was hard to pass anyone when I stuck my foot in it and it just would not go? so now I know the differace between the ram and the stroke now.
Is there a chip or something to play with the computer on the ram to pick it up on the top end and keep fuel mileage good
we got about 11 mpg. and my sons stroke gets about 12 mpg with a 9 1/2' camper on it 3100lbs extra weight.
will the ram improve a lot more with more miles on it.
does the c i make the much differance 5.9 to 7.3
what can I do to kick the ram up. with out spending a ton of $$$$$$$$$$$$$ the stroke is still stock with only 22590 miles on it
Alan
Re:towed the race car trailer

I'm not a huge 24 valve guy but I have a few friends that swear by the edge ez. One particular friend has a 99 he started out with an ez and then ended up going all out and now has injectors, a power max 3, a piers 40 and getting ready to change his rearend to a 3.54 because the 4.10 just isn't fast enough. After all these mods he gets over 20 mpg. Pretty good if you ask me. Try doing that in a choker. by the ways you can check out a picture of his truck in the member photos of black mountain dyno day. His is the one that says "justin's rig burning down the fuel meter."

Re:towed the race car trailer

I think you are being a little unfair to your Dodge and yourself, first you are expecting race car performance approx 7500lbs heavier than the PS, then you want instant acceleration with the extra weight with probably a higher geared rearend than the stroker. I dont believe that the stroker will get better fuel milage at 75 mph with a camper into the wind 11' high than your truck pulling a race car. Buy your self an EZ box slow down to 65mph, let your new truck break in (40-50000 miles) add 7000lbs to the stroker and there will be no way unless he does some changing around that truck will perform like yours. Re:towed the race car trailer

if u got 11 mpg pullin a 10k trailer and your sons powerstroke gets 12 haulin a 3100 lbs camper then i'd say that is pretty **** good....also...your truck isnt even close 2 bein broken in yet! there r many mods that will "juice" up your truck for about 600 bucks...injectors,fuel box, turbos.....i would go injectors and then not have to worry about the dealer tryin to void the warranty.

Re:towed the race car trailer

I guess I said it wrong He gets 12mpg pulling the trailer with the camper on it. I only had the trailer on the ram for the 200 mile trip not both.I know the ram is not broke in yet but that is why I towed the the trailer to help break it in. we did the same with the stroke when it had only 1100 mile on it.
What is a E-Z
Alan

Re:towed the race car trailer

An ez is a small box from edge. It will probably give you in upwards of sixty horsepower. It is what is known as a timing box. Which means later on down the road you can add a good fueling box and run both at the same time. Pair the boxes with a set of good injectors and wow. I get chills just thinkin about it.
