need a car towed & fuel line fixed in Richmond VA

kids car

she can't work on it in her parking lot at the apartments.

It needs the line to the fuel filter replaced, they were going to change the fitler, and the line cracked. you would need a tubing cutter, they are $8.18 at advance.

and a small peice of steel line with the flare on the end to replace the cracked part, and a lenght of rubber fuel line to join them together.

it looks I am going to drive up from SC, rent a tow dolly to get it off her property and onto the tow dolly (it runs fine, just spews fuel out the crack)

tow it on base to the hobby shop, and fix it there.

here is what I told her to do:

get the AMPRO tubing cutter

go buy that today, $8
cut the fuel line off tonight.

take the end of the fuel line to parts store tomorrow (or wally world tonight) to match the threads & flare end. (you may do this by
looking today, and matching it against the fuel filter, if they have a fuel filter in stock, that would be easiest)
but the piece you need & the rubber hose & 4 clamps for the rubber hose, and a piece of sand paper.

get the "rubber HIGH PRESSURE fuel line" about 2 inches tooooo long, and get FOUR clamps.
and a piece of sand paper.

sand the cut ends down,

run the rubber hose on well past the pipe ends , and put a 2 clamps on each end, for a positive seal against the high pressure.

cut the replacement end piece to length,

put some baby oil/motor oil on the rubber hose if it is too tight,
put the hose on the car and the replacement tube end on.
might have to replace the fuel filter now, if the old end is stuck on the fuel filter.

sorry to hear about your kid's troubles- that advice should get her going tho. and also advise her to move to a state that allows you to fix your own car in the place you live (I do understand them not wanting hoods up and the place looking bad, but TIMES ARE TOUGH, and you ARE paying rent...)
