throttle position sensor issues

now every now and then when i lay into the throttle the truck takes off but somtimes it will start to bobble up top and evern somtimes down low

it is kinda like it hit a wall and bounces of off it(not like a rev limter)

because other times it will go right through an acceleration run and do fine.

iv talked to some people about this and they all say it is the throttle position sensor

now i looked online and saw they are like 55 buck or 355.

i dont need the bellcrank assembly just the sensor

any thoughts

Everybody tell you , that what it might be , testing tells you if it is bad or not .
For motion & sweeping sensors you need a fast testing meter , like a scope , to see glitches .

I experienced the samething. After on the hwy for 3hrs, cruise set and rolling into town, hit the brakes to cancel the cruise and then shortly there after it begins having the dead pedal when accelerating. It acted up for about 30min and nothing since then. I guess if it happens again and continues, I'll have to look into replacement. Thinking it's the TPS/APPS sensor as well. Just ideas.

Can anyone provide a good lead on where to find a TPS/APPS sensor for the best price? I am thinking of just replacing the sensor though it is recommended to replace the entire assembly. Any help is much appreciated, as I really don't want to pay $550 from the local dealer here in Red Bluff, CA.

I have never seen the sensor available by itself, without the bellcrank. I have never seen it available in the aftermarket either.

To the original poster, I have replaced many APPS sensors, and have never seen one act how you describe. While there is a first for everything, I would check fuel supply first. Seems to me like aeration, starvation, or possibly a failing VP44.

This is a crankshaft position sensor. And this could very well be the culprit for this "hesitation" or "running into the wall" - but usually it should have a check engine light then.
