Three fault codes, P0122 P0121 P1693, what do they mean?

I got three fault codes, and am trying to figure out if I need to buy anything more than a new throttle postion sensor (apps or whatyamacallit???). For way too much money.

They are

p0122 throttle pedal postion sensor switch a circuit low input

p0121 throttle pedal postion sensor switch a circuit range performance problem

p1693 fault in companion module,......whatever the hell that means.

anybody got any ideas on what the 1693 is. And if 121 and 122 are the same thing said differently????

p1693 is the code saying that the other computer has a code. It will be present with any other code thrown. Looks like you found out what the other 2 are.

Check around, I know thry can be found on eBay for 200 bucks or so.

They are not the same thing, but what you need to do is adjust your tps sensor. There is a throttle stop screw under the plastic cover that you would need to tighten. You should have it hooked up to a scanner when you do this so you can stop once it is back in spec.

Did you or someone try to adjust your idle...thats how I got that same code

I wouldn't adjust the screws under the cover. The adjustment is made by loosening the two screws, which secure the actual APPS to the bracket. You access them by removing the APPS unit. The APPS will then need to be rotated, ever so slightly, until the desired voltage is reached. The voltage listed on the APPS needs to coincide with the voltage you're getting at the PCM. DTT has the instructions to do the reset here: http://www.dieseltrans.com/phpBB/viewforum.php?f=62 It looks like you'll need to have a username and password to read it ... that's new! If you can't get into that section of their website, PM me and I'll scan the instructions I have here.

I hope this is your only problem. I, too, experienced this same thing, ended up replacing the APPS and then threw the dreaded P0216 code the following day. I'd suggest you take care of it ASAP. I suspect that extended poor fueling from the APPS problem may affect your VP, but that's just my theory.

So, do I need to try resetting the old apps sensor before I go and buy a new one???

I just assumed that the code meant bad, but if the voltage changes then I don't know. My apps sensor (I took the plastic cover off) says (little white sticker) that it is not serviceable and I should replace the whole unit.

You can try resetting it, I did and it ran fine for a while. I'm thinking it'll buy you some time 'til you get round to replacing it. The unit sells for close to $500, if you buy from Dodge, Cummins quoted me just under $400 ... they're expensive! I got mine, a new unit, from Ebay for $207, delivered. It's up to you!

500 is a little steep.
I thought I read 362.00 somewhere..which is bearable, but if it's 500, I'm going to check ebay.
What are the keywords I should use. I just tried dodge apps and came up with nothing on there.
thanks for the help

Clay, here's the link to my purchase. This guy has them all the time, I know because I lost a previous auction. Send him an email to see when he'll have another.
