Is there anything new on a high idle??

I have not looked in a year or over, I now need to add a high idle before Christmas. Will be transporting a tropical bird in the truck and it will have to stay running.

What is the latest for the 24 valve? Really would like one that turns off and on with a switch, not a rheostat.

Here is a bulletin on the cruise control one. It's probably already been here a few times.

So your saying that the cruise does control the high idle on all 24 valves,it just has to be enabled,I thouht the cruise thing only worked on the 3er gen, trucks, could someone clarify .

This works for autos, but what about the trucks with a stick?

A tropical bird? That's an interesting thing to be hauling.

How big is the trailer for the bird?
It would probably like a ride in a cady instead.

As I read it, that Service Bulletin only applies to 2004 (DR) trucks, not the 2nd gen (BR) trucks. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

It is an African Grey. Carrying one is like haveing a spoiled three year old child with you. They do need stable temperatures though. Have a 24 inch cage for it in place of the back seat.

We had birds for many years, just decided to get another one. They are good company and unlike haveing the wife with you, just put them back in the cage

The Grey is good because of the short tail feathers, lot smaller cage.

I use a eletric high idle solinoid from a gas carbourator, mounted it under that black plastic cover on the throttle linkage above the injection pump with a lighted rocker switch on the dash, actually works great, have it set for 1400 RPM ,just click the switch on,step on the foot pedal and it will set right on the 1400.The solinoid has an adjustment on it to set the RPMs anywhere you want. When your ready to go just click the switch to off and your back to 800 RPMs.Would like the cruise setup but looks like 2002 and down dont have the capability,Ill bet its in the program but Dodge in their wisdom used a 3 cyl. idle with only one speed setting,Cummins uses the cruise for idle adjustment.

I called the dealer the other day after reading on another forum about the high idle circuit enable. The service tech said it was available for my truck but it would not come on until -15deg F. Is this something different?

I may build my own. All I can find is $200 and it looks like all it is to make it work is a rehostat of the right ohms. If I do I will post the results.
