surging, engine code PPCU

I'm a new member and hoping for some information. I have an 01, ETH, 38K miles. Recently started surging a low speeds, not noticeable at higher speeds. I checked for codes and got "PPCU".
Can anyone tell me what this code is? Only mod to truck is Edge EZ. I changed it from highest setting to mid setting, no change. I have not tried with EZ disconnected.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Likely will take to dealer, but I want to know what the cause may be.

Thanks in advance.

When you check for codes with the key on/off/on/off/on method the odometer should read:

P-ECU
P-PCU
P-DONE

If no codes are present.

If there were codes, they would come after the specific ECU or PCU.
I.E.

P-ECU
P- (insert code here)
P-PCU
P- (insert code here)
P-DONE

Going by this, you don't have any codes present, that are readable with that method.

If you think you should see some codes, you'll have to get them read with an ODB reader.
Most big auto parts places will read them for free.
(expecting you to buy the new part from them right then)

Usually they aren't set up for the Diesel specific codes though, and you might get some misinterpretation.

Going by your sig, you seem to know your way around Diesels (unless maybe you bought it used with the guages already in place?)
Have you noticed a change in your fuel pressure?
Lift pump ever replaced?
Surging is usually a sign of the VP44 injection pump dying.

Mine suffered the low RPM surge, and the VP44 was replaced with 4,000 on the odometer, no codes were ever present.

Thanks for the info on the codes. From what you indicate I need to recheck tomorrow but probably don't have any codes.

I bought the truck new and I installed the gauges and EZ at around 32K miles. At that point the lift pump was dead, replaced by dealer. In fact, I also added a mechanical FP pressure gauge under the hood to confirm that the electrical one on the A pillar was working correct after my install.

I have no idea how long I may have driven with the bad lift pump. Kind of worried that VP44 might have been damaged. Can the dealer usually diagnose a surging problem if it is the VP44.

Current fp is 14 - 15 at idle and down to 8 at full throttle.

Depends on the Dealer.
Some are set up to properly diagnose the VP44, others are not.
I lucked out and the Dealer I took mine too was one of the few in my area that could.

Still had to wait about a week to get my truck back, after all the warranty hoops were properly jumped through by me, the Dealer and STAR (the Chrysler warranty people).

Good luck.
