Exclamation Stranded...

I took a nice little road trip to eastern Kentucky a few days ago, to get away from home for awhile, and of all times, my lift pump decides to go out when im almost 900 miles away from home. I was driving along yesterday and noticed my truck was a little sluggish, so I looked at the fuel pressure and it was reading about 3. The town im in doesn't have a Napa or Cummins shop and the Dodge dealer doesn't sell anything but the in-tank conversion that costs $500 and im not ready to spend that much right now. I should be able to get one from a Napa by tomorrow so it's not to much of an emergency, I guess I just needed to "vent". I'm so glad I got gauges a couple months ago or I could have tried to make the 900 mile trip back tomorrow without a working lift pump. No telling where I would have gotten stuck at with a bad injection pump...

Have you check for codes? Your truck should run just fine at 3 psi. You might have other problems

There is a Cummins shop in Lexington, depending on how far East you are. Also, Republic Diesel in Lexington or Prestonsburg are great guys to deal with, mainly work on the big stuff but also work on the Dodge Cummins and usually have lots of parts or can get them quickly. Always reasonable and easy to deal with.

Republic Diesel:
Lexington
865 Nandino Boulevard Lexington, KY 40511
(859) 255-2356
(800) 432-9527

Prestonsburg
US Highway 23 South Prestonsburg, KY 41653
(606) 886-0014
(800) 526-1702

No Codes..my air filter was pretty clogged also, so im sure that didn't help much...(forgot to change it before i left..oops) I'm not about to drive 900 miles on 3psi though, I don't wanna risk a VP44 meltdown. I did find a lift pump at the local oreilleys here, so it should at least get me back to Oklahoma I hope!

Well, made it 900 miles home for a total of 1935 miles and the oreilleys lift pump worked great the whole way back! Didn't have any problems getting home, but about an hour after I got back, the right front tire was flat as a pancake...someone was looking out for me!
