Stock 47RE Transmission

I have a stock 47RE, I will start the truck up after the truck has sat for a few days to a week, il put it in gear and the transmission will not engage for a few seconds then all of a sudden it will slowly start to engage and all is well. I dont know much about these transmissions, does anyone know what causes this? Is something I should wory about?

sounds like fluid drain back a common problem with our transmissions

sonnax make a kit that fixes all the little issues related the 2nd gen auto trans

that will take care of the little issue plagueing the trans

As others have said, TQ drainback. I just put it in neutral for a few seconds and it then engages correctly.

TQ drain back. I pulled out all the check ***** when the trans was rebuilt, trans runs a little cooler.

Great, Thanks guys. It sounds like its fairly common, and not too big of a deal. Il be sure to put it in Neutral for a few moments before going into gear. Thanks again.

I have a built HTS and mine was set up that way. No check ***** for me either. I've heard that if one gets stuck, it can burn up the tranny fast!!!
