Still engine issues! Cranks for hours before starting

So the other day I hit my remote start and started to walk back down to my room... I noticed that it sounded kinda funny and I come to realize that its not running, its cranking! finally about 5 seconds later it fires...

all day yesterday its fine, first start of the day today and its the same thing, long period of cranking and it finally fires and runs ok

always seems low on power, builds boost just fine runs around 14-15psi of fuel pressure

Brand new LP and Wildcat maxflow kit

any ideas?

Either you are loosing prime, loosing the injection, or the batteries are going out...

How long has the maxflow kit been on?

Is the truck hard(er) to start when hot? Do you ever get "dead pedal"? More than normal smoke? or extra smoke on startup, and cold idle?

Is your remote start waiting for the grid heaters to cycle?

seems like more smoke than normal on startup, yes its wired for grid heaters, and its getting down into the 40s at night with 60s at time of start.

no dead pedal, fires up like normal after first start... maxflow and lp have been on since aug 1 with maybe 1000 miles

This sounds all too familiar.

Try parking with the truck pointing downhill. I bet this makes it different.

I've had a sporadic hard-start problem that is seems to surface only in cold weather. My truck will lose prime if it's sat for a while.

With the nose high, it loses prime every time, and you'll have to crank it a while.

With the nose low, it keeps prime.

I have an air leak somewhere, but I have no idea where. For a while, I was also experiencing a pressurized fuel tank, too (injector copper washers were leaking compression pressure into the fuel return). I don't have the pressurization any more, but still have an air leak that lets the truck lose prime.

It's weird how it only does it in colder weather.

Perhaps it's an O-ring at the injector line?

I would check all the connections on the Max Flow kit. They were a real pain to get tight enough to not leak.

It Sounds to me like the grid heaters are not being given enough time to fully cycle.

If you have even a very minor fuel leak on the return it will do that.

does the remote system "wait to start" or is it made for gassers? just a thought

Yes the remote start does wait to start, and I dont think the grid heaters are even needed at 60* ambient temp... just a thought

A fuel leak might also explain my misserable gas mileage

update, im now below 10mpg and I have found that a leak does exist... one of my lines is DRIPPING diesel fuel, its a pretty hardcore leak.

Looks like I probably screwed up my fuel pressure gauge/maxflow install and I KNOW the fuel filter housing is REALLY messed up

looks like good times
