Cranks and cranks
And really fast too. Think it may be the fuel control moduel on top of the injector pump (that **** VP44). It only does this when its hot (as in the engine is hot after getting run for a while, nothing hard just normal driving, cools down for a few min to an hour and then cranks really quick). But doesnt start. Any ideas? Havent pulled the codes, may go into work and do that tomarrow if I can get it to start.

Check for codes. do you have any gauges like fuel pressure and such, it could be bad lift pump but most likely vp44 is goin when it does that. if no codes and you have good fuel pressure check for a fuel leak but i dout that is it if it only does it while its hot.

Ok, so I reproduced the problem this morning.
Truck started right up first time when I left for school. Drove to school with out a problem, stopped for breakfast at Dunkin Donuts (left it running since I wasnt at school yet). Got to school shut it down, let it sit for about 1 min and tried to start it up. Cranked over very quickly (faster then normal) and wouldnt catch and start. Will be pulling the codes today at my work. Is this the lift pump or can I replace the FPCM you think? How does one go about testing the FPCM? Anyone know the amp or volt readings I should be getting into it? Since it is electrical and sitting right next to the engine, it may be just getting old and the insulation wearing out (can anyone tell I dont really want to replace the VP44?) so when its hot it increases resistance and wont fire correctly.

Ok, finnally got a chance to pull the codes on my truck yesterday. Nothing. It still does the same thing though. If I cool off the FPCM it will start up. Does anyone know where I can purchace a FPCM?
