Exclamation Steering play!!!!! Info that might help.

Well i've been dealing with a good amount of steering play for some time now. I've tried everything form replacing ball joints. (they needed it anyways) Luke's links on tie rod ends. The Center adjustment screw on the top of the steering box, you name it. nothing helped. then the other day i was going over the engine compartment and found the CLUTCH Resevour was bone dry.

I scratched my head for a while wondering why my clutch was still working just fine with NO FLUID!! So i filled it.

Well the next time i was driving i was happily suprised that almost the play in the sterring was gone!!!!! Curious i looked in my Hyanes Manual to see if the clutch and steering was linked somehow. i found nothing.

Well for anyone with a 24 valver with bad steering play check your Clutch fliud right by the break fluid.
And if anyone knoes why filling the clutch would help the steering i would like to kow myself.

Hope this helps some of you!

Hopefully someone can come up with an explanation on this link between the clutch and the steering, I certainly cannot.

The level of fluid in your clutch m/c must have been just below the bottom of the reservoir but high enough that the m/c bore was still full of fluid.

That is certainly strange!

I've had my hydraulic clutch fail- would not disengage clutch all the way with full fluid resevoirs. Had to replace master and slave cylinders to the tune of $430.

Didn't change anything on the steering, though.
I DO have a Darren's (?) steering box stabilizer installed, and have no play whatsoever.

Just my experience...

The question I have is, can you drain the clutch MC again, to the same level you found it at, and see if the steering changes? I have to be skeptical due to the obvious separation of those two systems, and I'm trying to be scientific about verifying this behavior.
