Squeaky Clutch

When depressing the clutch, the cable or something squeaks. Any easy fixes? I've looked to see if I can grease anything and it appears to be a sheathed cable. I thought I read you had to replace somthing and it was a pain in the rear. Any thought or experience is appreciated.

BTW, it is not the clutch, I have a SBC and it is fairly new.

Thanks for the help, Matt

Oh goody.....

There is no cable on your clutch, they are hydraulic units, with a connecting rod to a slave cylinder.

The squeak is coming from the cheap nylon bushings between the pedal arm boss and the cross shaft. Take it apart, which is reasonably easy, then go to your local dealer and buy new bushings. you will need 6 if I remember right. Or, do what I did. Buy 1, and have a machine shop make new bushings out of bronze. while you are at it, have them center drill the shaft for a grease gallery, and put grease fittings at each end. problem solved forever or until you don't need to care anymore.

Just a dumb idea....

Good luck

Wow, did you do all of that? That sounds pretty thorough! Thanks for the suggestion. I may do the nylon bushings, I'll have to see how tough they are to get out. If not bad, I'll just do them. If time consuming, I may look into the bronze maching. Thanks again, Matt

My truck has the same noise about once a year. I just spray the snot out of the clutch pedal linkage with WD-40. Just make sure you press the clutch all the way in when you apply the wd and the noise will go away for about a year. (at least it does on my truck).

I will swap out the nylon parts when the wd trick does not work.
