Squeaky/creaky clutch pedal...

OK, I think this was covered before, but I can't find the thread... My clutch pedal has lately developed a squeak/creak > when I depress and release the pedal (both ways). I have not been under the dash yet to investigate, but it's getting bad enough lately that I may have to. Just being lazy and wondering what anyone else has found to cause this, and what their fix was? TIA!!

I had the same problem a while back. Shot some silicone spray at the pivot point and linkage under the dash. That fixed it.

Re:Squeaky/creaky clutch pedal...

I was hoping it would be that simple. Appreciate the response! I'll post back to let folks know how it turns out in my particular case. With my luck, I'll climb under there and find part of my firewall tearing off around the pedal mounts...

I did the same thing....Silicone Spray. While you are down there take note of how the clutch pedal is made of plastic.

Yep, it's definitely plastic. It is pretty tough looking though. I guess they made it plastic so it would break away easier in the event of an accident.

My guess is it is just another one of the many cost cutting measures by the bean counters.

Re:Squeaky/creaky clutch pedal...

Tried some Si spray on the pivot pin. Quite a PITA to get in there, but I managed to hose it down fairly well. No change, though... :'( I am wondering if it has anything to do with the pushrod going to the clutch m/c? I am hesitant to spray that down with anything, as I would hate to contaminate the seals and thus the fluid with anything. Anyone got any thoughts on that?

Try some silicone spray on the linkage going through the rubber boot on the firewall.

Re:Squeaky/creaky clutch pedal...

My clutch squeaks like crazy when I wear certain shoes that have wet soles, so in my case it's the pedal material. The traditional hard rubber usually doesn't do that.
