speed sensor
Is it possible to have a bad speed sensor without out loseing my speedo and no abs light on
My main problem is the transmission shifting from first to second the rpms ramp up in first and it just wont release into second also horrible gas mileage and what I think is a loss of power also replaced the wheel cylinders to get it to brake better but they didn't help any info would be great

Speed Sensor
Had the same problem with my 2k. It was the speed sensor in the output of the tranny, not the rear axle.
You can do an easy check by disconnecting power to the PCM (remove fuse or battery cables for approx. 15 mins.) reconnect and test drive vehicle. It should run like normal until you shut it off, then it's back to abnormal

Bad speed sensor won't cause transmission to not shift from 1-2, loss of power is also sign of internal trans slipping, whether it is bands or other issues as stated in previous post.
Get codes checked with scanner, so you know any/all problems, and then can fix them all. If speed sensor is bad, your odometer/speedometer won't work.

torque....i've got a simular problem thats why i checked out this board....user name "calls" on his thread "tranny trouble" said he went to dodge house, the codes came back speed sensor....and said it fixed it....are you and calls talking about two different sensors.....just trying to get info on fixing mine....fellow dodge owner...redzone....
Your speed sensor is on the rear axle, if you have the abs light on, and speedo doesn't work then it is probably a faulty speed sensor. You should get it scanned for codes first, I think others have stated it's free at Autozone. Sounds like a sticking valve body, bad governor solenoid, or simply in need of a band adjustment.

From my understanding there are three speed sensors (ABS sensors) One on each front hub and one on top of the diff in back. I replaced the one on the rear diff and my light went away. About a week later the light came back on and I went to a friend who has a better high tech tester and it came up with the old code for the rear diff and the one for the front drivers side. I hope that the one in front is not going out because from what I understand that one is expensive. The rear diff one is only about $36 for the sensor at the dealer. After my friend reset my pcm and cleared all of the codes I have not had it come back and it has been two weeks. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Good luck.

Mine was doing the same thing the last few days while driving back from California, Just changed the sensor on the back of the tranny and all is good now..Sersor came apart in two pieces and left it hanging there. It was throwing a P0720 code and the engine light never came on once..
