shifting problem

Ok yesterday i am driving and having problems shifting. Do a couple of double pumps on the clutch, and things seem to work ok. Then all of a sudden it would not shift into gear at all. Coasted to the side of the road, and I still can not put it into gear. I stop the engine and it flows into all the gears. Start it up and I have the same problem.

So I have it towed to the local transmission shop.. Now I am concerned as to what the problem could be..

truck has 177000+ miles, i think it is the original clutch, because I bought it used, with only 66000+ miles on it..

Did the search thing found some posts that lead me to think this is related to the clutch, or clutch components.. I am ok with that, but is there any chance that I did something to the tranny??

Also looking for information so that the tranny shop does not try to snow me with a bunch of bull..

Sorry for the long post..

sounds like you have a leak in your clutch hydraulic system. If you were grinding a lot while trying to force it into gear, you could have chewed up the synchronizer teeth.

I did not have any grinding.. It just would not go into gear.. I also looked at the clutch reservoir and it was full... plus no tell tell puddle under the truck that i saw.

Sounds like that slave cylinder might be going out on you. Had a 92 chevy 5 speed and it did the same thing, wouldn't go into gear while running, but would when it was off. I put another slave on it, primed it and off she went

When you started it after it wouldn't shift, did you start it in neutral? Or did you start it in gear?

I'd agree with the others here and guess it was the hydraulics on it.

Sounds like master/slave problem. Did mine last month, didn't leak a drop just went by the seals. Get a South Bend and make sure you understand how it clocks into the firewall.
