RPM fluctuating and dropping

I have a 2001 24valve diesel xcab 6sp standard - I am having problems with the RPM guage bounces and it intermitantly loses power(feels like its governing) - I took it to a dodge dealership and they replaced the fuel lift pump and reset the codes it was good for about 200km and then it started again. I pulled the codes and they are P0341 and P1690. Does anyone have any ideas - the dealership wants to replace the computer.

your P 0341 is camshaft position sensor a circuit range

the 1690 I'm not seeing as a code. where u told these codes or did you pull them yourself. you can pull them turing on the ignition w/out starting going back to off 3 times 3rd time leaving the truck on they will display on the odometer.

The cam sensor senses the RPM it also tells the PCM that the engine is running so charge the battery if needed. Believe the computer, change the cam sensor.

I paid the dodge dealership another 150 dollars to confirm it was the camshaft positioning sensor but refused to pay them 150 more for the labour now saying that wow I am so far unable to figure away to access any suggestions? I tried from underneath which I don't have enough room to move the rachet once I get it in the hex bolt can't seem to see enough of it from the side.

Try with a long extention allen socket required it can be done. I think it was 3/16 but I could be wrong.
