I have a DEI Valet 561R and like it so far. I got it for remote start and keyless entry which I didnt have on my '97. It was cheap as well which was another deciding factor.

I have an Autostart AS6850 on my truck... most remote starts can be programmed to "wait to start" whether the installer hook the wire up to the wait to start wire then it will wait exactly the same amount as the light stays on ... otherwise it will probably wait a predetermined time 15 sec 30sec etc.. mine waits 30 sec and works great

I run a Valet 562T... Works great! I also runs my High Idle as well as my exhaust brake for really quick warm up times!

I've got the Mopar one. It has a 30 second delay for grid heater before it cranks. The one glitch I've noticed in REALLY cold weather, is that if it doesn't fire right away, it's programmed to try 4 more times.........BUT........on the successive tries, it doesn't recycle the grid heater, so there is no way it's gonna start. It just draws the batteries down. So....I don't use it in less than about -35°C. Kind of defeats the purpose of having it.

I had an autostart in my ranger. On the colder days (-30 or better), it would do the sequence, crank it very quickly and then give up. I'd have to go out there and start it myself, it would have to crank for maybe half a second longer than usual.

I see that you have a remote start but you also have a 6 speed. I want to get one on my truck, how hard is it to bypass the clutch safety? It's not really an issue with me because I always keep the truck in nuetral and NOBODY but me drives my truck. I've seen just how fast these high torque starters can get a truck moving in gear on a buddy's truck, lol.

The one I had on my ranger was an Autostart brand. It was a manual. In order to start it the future, you had to go through a little process before you leave teh truck.

Stop, put on e-brake.
Press button II on remote, dash will flash (if lights are off)
Turn off ignition, pull key, get out of vehicle, shut door
Press button 2, engine will shut off.

If you open the door, it disables the autostart until you redo the process. This is so you will never leave it in gear, and if the door opens (where you could possibly put it in gear), it disables it. I used to just start it up, grab what I needed in the truck, and then turn it off, and it would start next time I needed it. I probably wouldn't do this with a diesel in cold temps though.

The truck would run for 5 minutes after you set it if you didn't shut it down with the remote, so you could use it as a turbo timer if you wanted to.

I didn't want to have the elaborate process of setting it up like above. I always use a Turbo Timer so I walk away from the truck with it running. obviously not in gear. TO disable clutch switch simply cut the harness at the clutch and tie them together... I added an ebrake saftey for a little added security. If the ebrake isn't on the truck wont start with the remote start.

Never had an issue and it works great!
