Rear band adjustment

How important is the torque on the rear adjustment? I got a rinky dink torque wrench from Harbor Frieght. As you know 70 in/# is not much torque. Not sure the wrench knows as much as I do, anyway I turned the screw in quite a bit and it still did not register the proper torque. I was afraid I was going to run out of thread. So I backed it off and tightened it down. It is tighter than it was but not to specs. I have 115k and it has never been adjusted. There was quite a bit of metal on the magnet on my fluid plug. Did I do wrong???

Buy yourself a good wrench and do it properly, you can burn that band up if it is not right!!!! There won't be much sticking out (threads) at 72" lbs.

I understand doing it right. I do not have it as tight as it should be but it is not a loose as it was. Did I do it any harm?

If you are close to the spec, then probably not. There is some leway--but if you loosen it say 4 turns as opposed to two you could fr the band.

Just so there's no confusion by a newbie in the future, you torque to 72 in/lbs and back off the rear band 3 turns. Front torque to 72 in/lbs and back off 1 7/8 turns.
