Welcome to DTR!
We need to know info on your truck.. especially the yr - so fill in Signature when you can (under User CP).
Simplest answer to your question is you can't because it's designed that way; ...unless you floor it or load it down heavy.
First is designed to just get it moving. Remember your tranny is designed to handle towing very heavy weights!
Around town and empty, my tranny probably shifts into second around 5 mph.
