Band Adjustment

Band Adjustment
I have never adjusted the bands on my transmission. I am going to in this in the next day or so. My question is with all the band adjustment procedures I have read about during my searches, they all seem to have a different adjustment on how far to back the adjuster out. Some 2 turns some say 3 turns and others in-between. my question is what is the advantage to backing it out less or more when adjusting the bands?

All who do not know anything about trannys will tell you all about band adj. .......so mabe I should not say anything............
Cant stop myself...the band adj is nothing more then a brake to stop the sungear from turning -the adj comes dwn to more timing the shift then anything else. AND adj will not fix a thing and you will never know the differance.
I dono nothin and I can prooooveit

Okay that being said.. if you want the sun gear to stop turning either before or as the shift takes place.. what way should the adjuster be turned out?
If I go 2 turns out, how does it effect the shift vs if I go 3 turns

set it anywhere the factory setting and that will be ok.....the farther "out" the longer it takes to get hooked up.
Shift kits often recomend dropping the pan scuffing the drum and a tighter setting. Like I said you will never notice the diff. if your are some where in the park
