I mean what is the cold protection to?

Those Fleetguard strips are a great tool to have in your tool box. That is what I was talking about in my prevoius post.

Ok.
You should be at a minimum 50/50 AF to water.

Had trouble getting water to drain out of my radiator through my petcock drain. I would flush my radiator every two years and would use distilled water.Took my radiator to a radiator shop and had them pressure clean the radiator and you would not believe the stuff that came out of the radiator it looked lime. It made big difference in the cooling temp and the water would flow out of the petcock drain. I read on a nother site that 50/50 mixture of CLR and water was good to clean the radiator only not the hole cooling system. Has any body used that in there radiator ?

CLR sounds like it would work well. I wonder if you could just turn the rad on the side and fill it with that mixture, and let it sit.
How much was the pressure wash?

They flushed the hole system put in 3.5 gals. of antifreeze and filled with distilled water and cost $65.00. It did a lot better job than draining and filling and a lot less mess for me. When they flush the system they blow all most all the water out of the system so you have fresh antifreeze and water in the system. They un hook the radiator hoses and flush the system that way.
