question on my trucks acceleration

question on my trucks acceleration
When i am on the freeway running about 70, 1900 rpms and i punch it it seems like it gets up to speed slower than when i just roll on the power anybody know why

Probably because slowly going into it, you are allowing the turbo to keep up with the fuel/exhaust being put through...I don't have a technical answer though
