fuel lines

i just installed a new carter lp. it is supposed to put out 15psi. well, at idle it only gives me 9psi. i replaced the fuel line from the quick disconnect[ just before lp] to filter housing with 3/8 line. is it possible to kink the line just before the disconnect? [the plastic rubbery part]. or is it a bad pump right out of the box?

I am getting 14 at idle and 10-11 at wot with a new carter lift pump. I have the vulcan big line though. I am not sure what the pressure is with a stock set up. somebody that is totally stock?

Where are you reading the fp? Sounds like a dirty fuel filter to me. You will not see 15 psi w/ a carter lp and stock lines. You will be lucky to see 12 psi at idle taken at the pre-filter port.

Get a vulcan big line relocate kit or a fass.

I'm also getting 14-15lbs @idle and 13lbs.@WOT but I also have the Vulcan Big Line Relocation Kit, otherwise all stock. You may consider installing this kit also.
Seems to make for steady fuel pressure and will make replacement of your next LP a breeze.Probably could get it done in 30 min.

my fp readings are 9psi before 7.5-8 psi after the filter. i have 2 fuel psi gages. the pump is from jegs. not a true stock replacement.[thats why i had to change the fuel hose]. according to jegs this pump pushes 15psi- vs. their smaller ones

I have not any luck with pumps from Jegs or Summit, been there and tried. Try a Napa pump.

My Fuel System is STOCK...I am reading 13 PSI Idling in gear. Cruising is around 10.5-11.5 PSI depending on how fast. And WOT it pulls it down to around 8.5 PSI. My gauge is coming from the port on top of the canister closest to the engine(which one is that by the way??)

my stock lp was about the same [ untill recently]. that port is the post filter. the lp i am having issues with has larger in-out ports. 3/8" i am going to move the pump to the frame just in front of the tank, and add new 3/8" line from pump to filter. would that raise my psi? i don't like running around at 5-9psi.
