I have a stock 2001 4x4 extended cab 2500 truck that the pinion seal is leaking due to a ratchet strap breaking and wrapping around the rear of the driveshaft. Can anyone tell me what the seal number is? Seems like everytime I purchase parts I end up with the wrong part making it necessary to make a second trip and once I have it apart I need to get it put back together. The truck also has limited slip so will change the fluid while I have it apart and add the additive for that. How much of that will I need? Thanks for any assistance.

 

I ran into the same problem on my 2002 with the aftermarket seals. The seal would fit the housing but not the mopar yoke. I bought the correct one from a mopar dealer.
