yo

hey man i got the same too its been awhile but the 1693 is a turbo overspeed/overboost (not really a big deal) and the 0500 is just a junk code usually pops up with other codes basically meaningless.

nope thats not correct...1693 is called a companion code....it just tells you another code has been set.

P0500 has to do with wheelspin or with the ABS sensor on the rear diff. I initially thought the sensor may have went bad - but, I disconnected my batteries for a couple of hours and the 0500 went away by itself.

P0500: No Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal
No vehicle speed sensor signal detected during road load conditions.

That's what my service manual says anyway....

Thanks for the correction Tony....

its not the ABS sensor its the Vehicle Speed Sensor. In any event, it simply disappeared on my truck after I disconnected the batteries..

No problem... I didn't realize the service manual had all the codes listed in there until I was just skimming thru it....

I do have about a half dozen codes on mine... don't really bother me much!

0500 code

i can get the 0500 code every time by doing a fast idle warm up ( 1200 t0 1500 rpm) also the 1693 companion code.. you can get rid of 0500 by disconnecting the batt`s but not 1693

The P0500 can be thrown anytime the computer thinks the truck should be moving, but it isn't,
or shouldn't be moving, but it is.
such as spinning the tires in snow or mud, extended revving of the engine in park or neutral,
long downhill coast at idle.

Mine was thrown when I got the truespeed, and the wire became unconnected, I also had no speedo or cruise control at the time as well.

I get the P0500 code all the time. reset it and it will come back. the speedo works great. I did have the Truespeed and took it off, but the wire is connected. any ideas? oh, and I haven't lighted up the rear tires as of late.
