P0500?
P0500?
Got a code P0500 today and the truck does not move in any gear selected. I can shut truck off and restart and put in gear and it will gradually slide into gear and move about 20 feet or so then nothing. I pretty much know what the result will be (new tranny time) but is there anything else to check?
Thanks guys

0500 is just a simple speed sensor code stating that your truck is moving when it shouldnt or vice versa....though it is likely related to your tranny, the code isn't really telling you anything that you dont know.
I've also been told that if you sit for awhile and hold the idle up manually, it'll set that code. makes sense....I didn't have that code until the cold weather came and I would hold my rpms around 1200 to help warm it up faster. I'll have to wait till springtime to see if the code goes away.
My truck will throw P0500 from either the high idle that you guys mentioned or if I spin the rear tires when it's slick. If I'm not mistaken a certain number of key cycles/starts and the code will disappear. I believe the ABS system is
part of it's trigger.

I get the P0500 after spinning the tires excessively too. It goes away on it's own if I can contain my 'ol Leadfoot a week or so
Mine threw that code on Friday when I ran it at 1200 rpm while I ate my lunch. I ran it for about 10 minutes to defog the windows. I found the code Saturday afternoon during my usual "light maintenance" session. Kurt
