Codes P0500 and 1693

I had an earlier post saying that I had no throttle response, idle only. and finally I had pedal.

I pulled codes 0500 and 1693 did the apps reset and 0500 erased but still have 1693 and engine light still on. Is there a part I need to replace? Something else I need to do?

Would appreciate any help

BillH

Good luck. I had the same thing about a year ago, nobody seems to know what causes it. On my truck, it only happened when it was cold out (20 F) and I ran with the cruise control on for more than about 30 minutes or so. Turn off the cruise, truck would only idle, took 4 or 5 key cycles to get it to start back up.

There is a way to reset this error code... Funny part I got the same ones...

0500 Speed Sensor
1693 ECM Error

The fuse panel under the hood there are two fuses that power the ECM curciut. Pull fuses 4 & 7 for about 5 minutes. Then reinstall the fuses...

Now do the on-off-on... Key trick and check for codes... If do properly the codes will be gone...

Drive as usually enjoy...

PS: for a new trick push your trip button and hold and turn you key to on then release the button. This will test your gauges and message lights.

It is also possible to get those codes (0500 and 1693) from spinning your tires. They came up on my truck after I pulled out too fast in standing water. A few days later, they were gone.

No one knows what the 1693 code is. Hunter, I spin my tires all the time and I've never gotten that code. That's interesting.

I think the 1693 is a PCM code that means there's an ECM code or vice versa. That may only be the case on an '02 truck, though. Either way, it isn't helpful in finding the problem that set the codes. Kind of like a Microsoft error message.

Hey Bill

I had the same codes and the same symptoms on my truck last year. After I took it in I had them pull the other codes and got a 121 if I remember correctly which basically ended up being the APPS.

I tryed the reset a number of times but had no luck. changed the APPS and havent had any troubles since.

Good Luck

Jason

P0500 speed sensor and P1693 is a companion code set between the PCM and ECM. Last week I had my truck in and gave them the chance to tell me what they were. Quote "these are erroneous codes and ignore them".

Thank you very much.
I learned "Do Not Ask Technical Questions" and in my case if you have a transfer case output seal leaking oil, you say to yourself "No, it is not leaking oil. What really happened is who ever changed the oil in the transfer case spilled oil all over the skid plate". Yes, this is true, even though the transfer case has not had an oil change yet. The neighbors kids probably did it. So, anyway this information is probably erroneous.

I disconnected batteries and codes went away. But, I also re-set the APPS as I had no (momentarrily) throttle response.

Another way to trigger these code I found is bump starting... (Rolling down hill and put in gear)

I posted the reset by pull the fuses... Well if you bump the engine over it will create these codes as well you might check...

I kinda makes sense because the engine is started normally....

I got those two codes and i also got the P0216 code. I popped all three code baking the tires screwn off so the speed sensor make sense.

Recently had the injector pump & LP replaced 15000 miles ago I just put a comp box in luckily i didnt tap the wire.

FP is 13 idle and 9 WOT but the comp just hooked up as a EZ billows smoke like a banshee some times and then runs like a scalded cat other times.
