P0336 Error Code

If I'm doing this wrong sorry, as this is my first post.

I have a 2000 3500 diesel dually with 56k. It is a longbed quad with auto trans. I have added 4" exhaust, K&N airbox and running the super chip. I just got the above error code. It clears but comes back. I also noticed the first time I got it the rpm gauge fell off and the truck went dead. I get a gen light as well. The only thing I have done recently is put 2 new batteries in. I also found the o2 fuses has somehow come out of the socket so I put it back in and cleared the code....Any ideas would be greatly appreciated....

P0336 Crankshaft Position Sensor Signal

Tachometer gets it's signal from this sensor, PCM uses the signal to let it know the engine is running so it can turn on the alternator (voltage regulator is inside the PCM)

Welcome to the board.
You'll find most of us are pretty knowlegable about these trucks.

Thanks for the info...So what can I do to correct the problem. I keeps coming on. Sometimes it shuts the truck off and sometimes it don't...Should I get auto zone to check out the altinator since that light comes on when it happens?

You'll have to change the sensor.

The only walkthrough I could find is for a '99.

Shouldn't be too much difference, I would think.
