Oregon Fuel Injection

I am going to be buying a VP in the next few weeks and have a few questions. Has anyone run one of their pumps and how are they doing? Does anyone have their High Performance Pump and does it really add the power? Any input from any oregon fuel injection vp44 owners would be appreciated.

i bought mine from midwest fuel injection for 1046 and they let you send your old one in after you install the new so as you dont have the core charge. it has been on for 80k and no problems as of yet. cant speak for the others but they will get my business again.

FWIW, there are some guys selling pumps that will warranty it with a tapped pump wire - which is a big plus if youre bombed or planning on bombing. www.Sourceautomotive.biz is the main one I know of.

They are a local company by me and I hear a lot of guys talk trash bout them. Rip offs and not that great of service. But I've had no experience with them, just know what locals been saying.

Where to buy?

I'm also trying to figure out where to buy an IP. I know there is a difference in prices. For instance Midwest Fuel Injection has one for less than $1100, but Blue Chip Diesel is almost $1700. Blue Chip web site says they put a new case and new computer in every pump and claim other people don't go that far. They also claim only a 2% failure rate. I wonder if the other suppliers have complete rebuilds or they keep old parts if they still meet specs? I'm not sure how much I want to pay for perfection.

I went with Midwest Fuel Injection - since November good performance and fuel economy. Take a look at their site as they have package deals that include an aftermarket lift pump that I'm hoping will resolve the original equipment lift pump's high failure rate. If you do decide to go with their package deal, I'd also recommend installing a Vulcan drawstraw and a mechanical fuel pressure gauge. DD
