Noise from under the hood

I’m getting some noises that I haven’t had before from the right side of the motor. It almost sounds like a small exhaust tap or leak, but I’ve check out the manifold area and all around there and can’t hear it when the truck is sitting still idling or having a buddy throttle it up. I then thought maybe it’s a slight lifter tap, but I only hear it when driving (throttling up) and can’t get it to give the noise when even going WOT when parked. I’m wondering if it’s just that the block is not warm enough when I leave the house. I leave just after 6AM and it’s chilly but not cold. Most mornings here are in the 40’s sometimes 30’s, when we’re up in the high deserts.

Anyone have any ideas, should I be heating the block or letting the truck warm longer?

What about adding some oil to the fuel, I’m running #2 and I’ve just finished the Big Line Kit on the truck. I’ve seen (if I’m remembering right) that some run 2-stroke MX oils, If so I’ve got plenty at home, is it safe and how much to a fill-up. Just wondering if the oil will help with colder (cooler) weather and will quite things down a bit.

Thanks

I as well have a cold temp startup ticking on mine. I'm fairly sure mines from the front of the engine IE idler pulley or a pully bearing......I'm not certain yet exactly what. but it goes away when warmed up.

Are you mixing any oil in with your fuel, if so does it help?

Sound goes away when warm too.

a cracked manifold will cause noise, also loose or missing bolts , ck the 2 rear exhaust manifold bolts... they are known to loosen and come out.( i had it happen to me, i replaced them and tightend to spec's no problems since) there is a tsb on them but i don't what it is.... do a search & you will find it
