Noise and #1 fuel
Noise and #1 fuel
It was kinda on the chilly side here last week, and I am running about fifty/fifty blend of #1 and #2. I previous years I just ran additive. I ma noticing a lot more noise from the injectors and fuel lines, etc... The question I have for any of you.... Is it normal for the fuel system to run louder under these conditions?
FYI. I did put a new fuel filter in it last week, and I ran fuel into the filter with the lift pump until I got fuel out of the top ports on the filter canister, but I did not bleed the line going to the vp44 from the filter. It started and ran just fine.

Mine is also noiser when it gets cold and I switch over to 50/50 mix or just straight #1. A quart of 2 cycle oil like 'Johnh' stated will help quiet things down. I think it also help the VP44 in the lube department.... But it sounds normal to me....
Thanks!! Seems like a good idea... I will try some 2 cycle oil tomorrow... I topped off the tank with #2 today, but I am sure it is still a blend. It does seem like it has let up a little. It kind of comes and goes. Actually it seems more prevalent when the engine is warmed up. A friend I talked to today (he has had a lot of different diesels from heavy equipment to semi tractors to pickups) said it may be time for injectors. I guess with 240k (I have had the truck since 93k) maybe it is time to consider that prospect too.
