No 1st Gear...help!

my truck is 2001 2500 ram 4x4 diesel i bougt new in 01.it has 140k on it.everything has bin great but when i left work today it was very slugish.after cheking the tranny fluid real and seeing it was good i drove home.i notced its not starting out in 1st gear.if i put the shifter in 2nd it does not change anything if i put the shifter in 1st i can get it in 2nd gear.i channged the filter and the fluid but it did not help.it feels like it goes to first for a split second when put in drive, but then goes to 2nd in about half a second.i know its not a linkege or shifter problem.it seems like a sticking valve or solinoid or something like that.my wife drives it so i need to get it fixed fast.
any help woud be great,thanks

Check it for codes.
Limp home mode.
Gov. pressure too high or too low.

Sounds like the governor or pressure transducer to me as well.

Check codes with the three key on trick and report again. You will be lucky if a simple solenoid replace fixes. JMHO

my codes were 1763 1762.so i changed the governor solinoid today and it did not help(165$).so tomorow i will cahnge the presure sensor(99)$.i was hoping to only buy one,but im not that lucky.i was looking at some of my old work orders from the dealershipwhen the truck was new. i had it in a few times for this problem.one time they changed them both.one time they did just the solnoid and one time just the sensor.i guess i will just keep the new solonoid because they charge a 20% restickong fee and if i take it back it will probly go bad next week(my luck lately).i will post back tomorrow after i cahnge the sensor with a success story i hope.has anybody ever changed both and still had this problem?if so what was the final fix?

good job. Should have told you to change both at same time as figuring which is problematic.
