Newbie with problems here????

Ok
01 24 cummins 5 speed tranny, I bought the truck just a few months ago, It started out a missing, falling flat, bucking, running it kinda hard maybe 2200 rpms now it seemed to only do it in 2-3rd gear, now its much worse tries to die etc, I been doing some research on here about Lift pumps, apps etc, what is VP mean? how about apps? Im going to try the apps reset but dont know what im realling doing....any info or a thread for trouble shootin would be great.

Apps = throttle position sensor.
LP = lift pump
VP44 = injection pump.

For your problem i would verify fuel pressure. Guages are a must have.

Here you go........
Codes:
There is also the "key on and off three times" (2000 and up) that will show codes on your odometer. The P0216 code denotes a failing VP44- the injection pump. The VP44 dies due to the failure of the lift pump, which is mounted on the side of the engine. The VP44 requires fuel for lubrication and cooling. and when the lift pump fails, the VP44 usually follows. My 02 has 111K and I am having the same symptoms as you. I would try the APPS re-boot and see if it works. I am planning on relocating the LP to the frame next to the fuel tank using a Vulcan kit, and also installing a fuel pressure gauge to keep an eye on the lift pump.

Not my words....I copied this from a previous post.
