Question New HRVP, now cold start issues.

I just put in a new Industrial Injection HRVP about a month ago. Was working great until the weather cooled down. Now anywhere below 50F it's starting real hard. Won't start on the first try. Cycle the key and run the grid heaters again and usually it will start the second time, but still starts hard and a lot of white smoke.

Is this a common issue with the HRVP's?
Possibly grid heaters aren't working?
Any input would be appreciated. Haven't had time to look into it yet, but hoping to tonight.

The batteries are only maybe a year old. Cranks over just fine, just doesn't seem to fire. Once it's running and warms up, runs great. Cold starts are the only issue. Guess maybe I'll just have to live with it. I'll try plugging it in tonight, see if that helps. Never used to plug it in unless it was below 0.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
And you paid extra for this privlidge? I would not think so. At the very least it should start on first try even if grid heaters ain't working.

My HRVP starts right up in cold weather, make sure the grid is working.

Hopefully do some checking tomorow evening. Didn't have time tonight. It's down to 15 degrees now, so should be easy to test...

Ok, update on this and definitely need some help.

I tested the grid heaters and both elements are working fine. I had a fuel leak which I thought might have been the cause, but I got it fixed.

I've been just kind of living with it for the past month, but last night I forgot to plug it in, got down around 0 degrees and would not start at all this morning. Ended up draining the batteries trying to get it started. Finally, after 6 hours of the block heater being plugged in and a battery charger on, I got it started and made it home.

I live in the middle of nowhere with below freezing temps a lot of the winter. Luckily today I was at a friend's house parked close to an electrical outlet and he had a battery charger. I need to get this fixed before it leaves me stranded...

Any ideas on what I can do?
This started right after installing the HRVP, but could it be another issue?

Sorry about the long rant, but I'm getting really frustrated with this...

I would be looking at the things you had to take off when you installed teh VP. Still sounds like a grid heater issue to me. How did you test them? My HRVP made it harder to start when hot, but nothing like you are describing. And that was after a year and a half.

I used the test procedure out of the Chrysler diagnostic manual. Checked voltage drop and resistance on both elements. I also checked temps of the housing with an infrared gun and the intake air temps on the Attitude monitor. I can't remember the numbers, but everything checked out...

One other thing I thought of was I installed a new crank position sensor at the same time. It seems to be working fine though as I haven't gotten any codes or lost my tach again since then.

Called Industrial Injection tonight. Thinking it's actually the Raptor that's the cause, pushing too much fuel at startup. I pulled the fuse on the Raptor and it cranked right up tonight, but it's been plugged in all day. Unplugged it and going to try it again tomorow when it's cold...

Ok, still no luck. Unhooked the Raptor, still wouldn't start. Tried priming the system, then unhooking it, still nothing.

Checked for air leaks in the fuel system. Parked facing uphill or downhill there's no change, still won't start.

Last night got down to 18F, it was 30F when I went out to try and start it this morning. Wasn't plugged in last night as I wasn't planning on going anywhere. Won't start at all, tried for 20 minutes.
