New diesel to me

Hi, I am in the process of buying a diesel, and wanted your opinions. Which one is a better deal, just by looking at the ad. I am going to test driving them next week if not sold yet. The first one is a 1999 3500 dodge diesel, 119739 mi, $17416, Manual, 3.54 axle raio. OR the 2001 3500 dodge diesel 61079 mi. $19999. I am not sure if the 1999 is the 12 valve or not. The 2001 has the 24 valves. Should I stay with a 12 or 24 valve. I am going to use it as a recreational vehicle. Putting a slide in camper 3000lbs and pulling a jeep around 4-5000 lbs. Camping around 7 times a year with the slidein camper. Any suggestions would be appreciated. If you guys think I need more infor on truck, let me know. Thanks Carl

1998.5 - 2002 - Are all 24 Valve Engines (2nd Generation)

Peronally I would go for the 2001... Less problems like the 1999's had 53 Block, Early VP 44 problems, Etc...

opinion

Well IMO the 2001 has fewer miles and for only a few dollars more it is well worth the extra $ on top of it being 2 years newer.

Secondly the 1999 has the 24valve as does the 2001

I think you would be much better off with the 01

12valve

I have read that the 12 valve are a little better then the 24 valves,( emissions, filters, pumps, diesel, noise, etc.) any comments on this or any pros and cons about this. I will stay away from the 53 block I have read here also. Great information in this site. Carl
